Total Safety Consulting Recruit Apprentices

LONG ISLAND CITY, NY (08/01/2010)(readMedia)– Total Safety Consulting will conduct a recruitment from August 2, 2010 through August 13, 2010 for five site safety manager apprentices, State Labor Commissioner Colleen C. Gardner announced today.

Applications will be given out on first come-first serve basis at the sponsor’s address, 36-06 43rd Avenue, Long Island City, NY, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m., Monday through Friday, excluding legal holidays, during the recruitment period, or until 50 applications have been issued, whichever comes first. Applications will be picked up in person only, and applicants will have until August 13, 2010 to return them to the sponsor via U.S. mail. Returned applications must be postmarked by August 13, 2010.

The Committee requires that applicants:

* Must be at least 18 years old.

* Must have a high school diploma or general equivalency diploma (G.E.D)-must submit a transcript of grades at the time of indenture.

* Must be physically able to perform the work required as determined by the notarized affidavit signed by an applicant.

Apprentice programs registered with the Department of Labor must meet standards established by the Commissioner. Under state law, sponsors of programs cannot discriminate against applicants because of race, creed, color, national origin, age, sex, disability or marital status. Women and minorities are encouraged to submit applications for apprenticeship programs. Sponsors of programs are required to adopt affirmative action plans for the recruitment of women and minorities.
